We’re sure we can all agree.. (don’t say it too loud incase the weather decides to change its mind!) that summer is finally here!
We’ve been super lucky to have a few weeks worth of lovely warm sunshine, so this week’s blog is inspired by summer fashion trends and how you can pair this with your favourite nail polish.
neon
This is one fashion trend we can always get behind. After previous fashion week’s obsessing over pastel shades, this year packed a punch with bright, contrasting neon tones. Perfect for a summer festival! Of course, we have our very own neon collection here at Livoliv, so you can pretty much take your pick when it comes to matching your nails with your outfit.
Psychedelic is a bright neon pink creme that glides on like butter. If you prefer a shiny finish, top with a coat of shining armour. If matte is more your thing- then our buff stuff matte topcoat will be right up your street!
tie-dye
Tie-dye is a trend that comes and goes, but this time admittedly it’s a little classier than back in the 60’s! Whether you’re into the brighter colours, or more subdued tones- there will be a tie-dye pattern for you.
In terms of a nail colour- why not get creative and try to recreate the tie-dye pattern itself? This can be done through water marbling, watch a great tutorial here on how to get started.
Shades of green and blue work well together and are perfect for a fresh, summery look. Free Spirit is a smooth turquoise creme polish that would look fab swirled together with mint gelato– a subtle pastel green.
sequins
Whilst sequins look great (we’ve all had them on an item or clothing in some way or another) there is a sinister side to these shiny little additions. Because they are predominantly plastic in nature- they are of course bad for the environment so it’s a shame to see them at the forefront of the 2019 fashion shows.
There are biodegradable options out there for both sequins and glitter, so why not get your creative juices flowing and customise your favourite item of clothing yourself?
As sequins are all things sparkle- it only makes sense to pair it with extra sparkle on your nails! We have the perfect addition in the form of Make Me Over Unicorn! This super glitzy topper will make any manicure come alive. The best part is, it looks great on top of pretty much any colour.

Amongst all the colour and wow factors above, was a dash of subtle tones. Neutral colours are in this summer and we’re all for it. After all, a nude nail is always a winner!
Our personal favourites here at Livoliv are Primrose– a pale yellow that would compliment any neutral outfit; and Driftwood, a creamy brown that is an easy every day choice. Don’t forget to look after your cuticles for the best results! Cuticle oils are a fool proof way to ensure they get all the moisture they need and you can just keep on in your handbag.
